Comprehensive Sexuality Workshop For Teachers

A Comprehensive Sexuality Education Workshop was organized for the Teachers to equip them with knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values that empower them to realize their health, well-being, and dignity; develop respectful social and sexual relationships; and understand and ensure the protection of their rights throughout their lives.

The workshop was conducted by a team of School Counsellors and a group of ten teachers. The workshop covered various aspects like understanding the meaning of Gender, multiple issues that come under the larger concept of Sexuality, Child Sexual Abuse, and concerns related to Sexuality Education in schools.

A thorough discussion took place on each facet through a number of interactive activities. The sessions enriched the teachers’ knowledge and they hoped to use it in their classrooms too.

Reading Programme For Class V

A reading programme is organised each year for the students of Class V during the summer vacations. It aims to enhance their reading skills and encourage life-long reading habits. This year seventy students participated enthusiastically in this programme. They were introduced to various genres of texts and authors. They learnt the usage of the dictionary and encyclopedia. The use magazines as an authentic source of information were also encouraged. It was encouraging to see the young learners design and present their own magazines. The programme culminated with a storytelling session by the school librarians which was immensely enjoyed by the students.

Capacity Building Workshops For Teachers - September 2023

Two Capacity-Building Workshops under the aegis of CBSE were conducted for the teachers. The first workshop was on ‘Stress Management’. It helped the teachers understand the various factors that lead to stress and burnouts. Stress coping mechanisms were shared through discussions and role plays. The workshop was appreciated for being interactive and showing its participants a means to an emotionally healthy life.

The second workshop was on the ‘National Education Policy 2020’. It highlighted the structural changes that NEP 2020 aims to bring in school education. The means to implement these changes were shared by resource persons. They discussed diverse tools and strategies that can be used to have more meaningful classroom interactions. The teachers were taught how to design lessons plans in accordance with NEP 2020. The teachers look forward to implement the suggestions shared during the workshop.

Synergy - August 2023

The Srijan School hosted its Annual Inter-School Festival, SYNERGY 2023, from 23rd to 25th August. The festival witnessed the participation of more than 500 students from around 40 renowned schools of Delhi. The festival focused on analyzing the impact of technology on our everyday lives with a special emphasis on Artificial Intelligence. Participants came up with novel ideas and suggestions to ensure a responsible and inclusive integration of technology in our society.

The first day was dedicated to Udaan which had an array of events for children with different abilities. Children got a platform to express themselves in varied ways in a non-competitive environment. Their joy and confidence spread amongst everyone.

The second day of Synergy 2023 saw multiple competitions that challenged and assessed the participants’ linguistic prowess. It also saw the beginning of a two-day workshop on Gond Art by the renowned artist, Shri Narmada Prasad.

The last day witnessed exciting and insightful competitions that made the students contemplate, debate and question the impact of digital dictatorship on us. It ended with a lively closing ceremony where the students of the host school sang a beautiful rendition of Kabir’s dohas and performed the Bihu dance. The Prize Distribution Ceremony awarded and congratulated the participants on their astute performances.

The Teacher’s Day was celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. It was an occasion to not only pay tribute to Dr. Radhakrishnan’s contributions and achievements, but also acknowledge and show appreciation to the teaching community for their invaluable contributions to society. The students expressed their love and gratitude for the teachers through a vibrant and delightful cultural program. They sang and beautifully danced on the stage. The Deputy Secretary gave a speech and shared a touching self-composed poem highlighting the profound influence of teachers on their lives. Students were given an opportunity take on the role of the teachers.

The day was marked by a special assembly which highlighted the significance of sports and play in an individual’s life. The students shared that playing a sport not only has physical and emotional benefits for an individual, but also imparts valuable life lessons. They also discussed the various measures being taken by the government to encourage sports in the country. The achievements and awards of various sports personalities were shared with the students to encourage them to take up sports, and aspire for a healthy and meaningful life.

The National Mathematics Day was celebrated in commemoration of the birth anniversary of the mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan. The celebration took place over a month with myriad activities being conducted that involved the application of abstract mathematical concepts. The day was marked by a special assembly which showcased a play on the life of Ramanujan and mindboggling mathematical questions for the audience. A Maths quiz and a ‘Tangram’ puzzle was also organised for the students.
